Nut Milk

1 cup of nuts (our favorites are blanched almonds and/or cashews)
4 cups water

Blend until completely smooth.

I like the sweetened variety for cereals and the unsweetened variety for cooking.

Shake well before using. It separates when stored, however it mixes well again with shaking.

If you don't mind texture in your milk, you can leave the skins on the almonds. It is especially good on cereal. A Vita-Mix will grind the nuts very fine. When using a blender, add only part of the water at first. The nuts will grind up better, then add the rest of the water.

For added flavoring, add vanilla, pure maple syrup, carob powder, coconut, or coffee substitute. Also, very good with a banana blended into it.
