AVS Newsletter The Alaska Vegetarian Society creates an interesting and informative newsletter every month. We strive to educate our readers on the positive aspects of eating a plant-based diet and the negative effects of eating the Standard American Diet (often referred to as the SAD diet). There are articles on nutrition and how our lifestyles effect our personal health, the health of our planet and the well-being of the domestic and wild animals who share the earth with us. Also, we have articles and calendars of upcoming events such as monthly potluck dinners, movie screenings, cooking classes and special events. Some of our monthly feature articles are: My Vegan Story, Nutrition Nuggets, Recipe of the Month and book reviews. The cover articles by AVS president, Delisa Renideo, offer interesting perspectives on a wide variety of topics. We are always looking for people who would like to write an article with a new perspective on how eating a plant-based diet effects you and the world around us. Maybe you would like to tell your story of how you became vegan. Contact Delisa Renideo at delisa@alaskaveg.org if you would like to submit an article for the newsletter or tell your vegan story. Some regular sections of special interest have been archived onto their own webpages to make it easier to read them as a group. The sections that have been created so far are the popular recipe pages, My Vegan Stories and Nutrition Nuggets pages. Click the on the button in the side bar to go to these separate archives. The newsletters now, as of Jan. 2010, have interactive links to website, email addresses, etc. If you see blue, underlined text click on it to go to the webpage or open a new email window. To read an individual newsletter, click on the year button below and then choose the month you would like to read.
